Proofreading
-
Make sure your application is written in correct grammar and form.
-
Ask a friend to proofread all parts of your application, including forms and essays.
-
Always write in a professional tone.
-
Read everything you are applying for, including the fine print.
-
Don’t hurry, and follow the directions.
Letters of reference
-
For the two necessary reference letters, give at least two weeks advance notice in writing to the person you are asking for a recommendation.
-
Make sure the person writing the letter knows where and to whom the reference letter must be sent, and the type of program for which you are applying.
-
Provide the person writing your reference letter with a pre-addressed, stamped envelope.
- Be sure to send a letter thanking the person who wrote you a recommendation.
Deadlines
- Never miss a deadline. Even submitting materials on the deadline is sometimes too late. Submit early to make sure you get noticed.
- Keep copies of everything you send. If something gets lost, it will be easier to recreate your materials.
